When the sky turned orange with sunset and the day’s chores were done, Grandma would pull out her big mixing bowl and say, “Let’s make some biscuits.” We’d gather around the tiny table, flour dust floating in the air, and wait for the magic to rise in the oven.
Ingredients (Biscuits)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 2/3 cup milk
Ingredients (Honey Butter)
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- Pinch of salt

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Cut in butter with a pastry cutter or fingertips until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add milk and stir just until combined—don’t overmix.
- Turn onto a floured surface, knead gently 5–6 times.
- Roll to ¾-inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix honey butter ingredients until creamy and serve warm with biscuits.

Memory Moment:
The first bite of a warm biscuit with sweet honey butter was pure heaven. Grandma always made extra, knowing that everyone would sneak seconds—and maybe thirds—when she wasn’t looking.
